Umrah Visa Requirements by Country

Which Umrah visa you need depends on your passport, and the options have widened: many nationalities can now perform Umrah on an eVisa or a tourist visa, some qualify for visa on arrival, and holders of valid US, UK or Schengen visas may be eligible for a simplified route. Others still need an Umrah visa issued through a licensed agent. This guide sets out the routes by country as of 2026; confirm with the official Saudi visa platform before booking, because eligibility changes.

Countries eligible for the tourist eVisa

Passport holders from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, most of the EU and several Asian countries can apply online for a multiple-entry tourist eVisa valid for a year with stays of up to 90 days, and perform Umrah on it outside the Hajj season. Apply on the official platform, pay the fee and insurance, and carry the printed approval.

Visa on arrival

Many of the same nationalities can obtain a visa on arrival at major airports, though queues make the eVisa the better choice. Holders of valid US, UK or Schengen visas that have been used at least once may also qualify for visa on arrival regardless of nationality; check the current rules.

Agent-issued Umrah visa

Pilgrims from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nigeria and many other countries obtain an Umrah visa through a licensed Umrah agent in their country, usually bundled with a package. Requirements typically include a passport valid six months, photographs, vaccination records and a confirmed package.

Transit and stopover visas

Saudi carriers offer a stopover visa for passengers transiting through Saudi Arabia, which permits Umrah for up to 96 hours. It suits a short Umrah on the way to another destination.

Umrah visas and Hajj season

Umrah on tourist and eVisas is not permitted during the Hajj period. Agent-issued Umrah visas have their own seasonal windows. Plan dates around the Islamic calendar.

For country-level walkthroughs, see Umrah visa from the USA and Umrah from Pakistan. If you already know which route applies to you, the step-by-step application guide covers the form itself, and Umrah visa cost explained covers what you pay and to whom.
