Umrah from Peshawar
What pilgrims leaving from Peshawar need to know: the flight, the visa route for Pakistanis, the season and a realistic budget.
Flying from Peshawar
Peshawar pilgrims typically connect through Karachi or Islamabad, or occasionally a Gulf hub, rather than flying nonstop from Bacha Khan International Airport, though scheduled and seasonal charter capacity can change, so it's worth asking a local agent about the current routing before booking. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has a strong Umrah and Hajj travel culture, and Peshawar's agents are experienced with coordinating the domestic leg alongside the international one, including for pilgrims travelling in from more remote parts of the province. Given the region's mountainous geography, winter weather can occasionally disrupt the domestic flight, so build in a buffer before an international connection during that season. The Pakistani rupee is used locally. As with the rest of Pakistan, only book through operators registered with the government's Hajj and Umrah scheme, and confirm total journey time carefully, since a two-leg trip from Peshawar takes noticeably longer door to door than from Karachi or Lahore.
Umrah visa for Pakistanis
Pakistan is not on Saudi Arabia's eVisa list, so Pakistanis normally cannot self-apply online for Umrah. The route is a licensed Umrah company, or an external agent contracted through Nusuk Masar, which books the visa with an approved hotel and transport package as one file, not a visa alone. It must be used within 30 days of issue, so confirm dates with the operator first. Many Pakistanis abroad in the Gulf instead perform Hajj and Umrah through their country of residence rather than Pakistan. Holders of a valid, used US, UK or Schengen visa, or GCC residents, may instead qualify for the eVisa or visa-on-arrival route, so ask the operator to check. For the 1448 AH Umrah season (31 May 2026 to 7 Apr 2027), start several weeks ahead, since checks move faster the earlier you begin.

When to go
Ramadan carries the greatest reward and the greatest crowds and prices; the weeks after Hajj (late Dhul Hijjah into Muharram) and the winter months (November to February) are cooler and quieter. The 1448 AH season runs from 31 May 2026 to 7 April 2027 for arrivals and departures. See the best time to perform Umrah.
