Umrah from Multan
What pilgrims leaving from Multan need to know: the flight, the visa route for Pakistanis, the season and a realistic budget.
Flying from Multan
Multan International Airport has historically run seasonal Hajj and Umrah charter flights given the strong outbound pilgrim demand from southern Punjab, but year-round scheduled nonstop service to Jeddah or Madinah is not guaranteed, so confirm current options with a local agent rather than assuming a direct flight is running. Outside charter season, pilgrims generally connect through Karachi or Lahore. Multan has a long tradition of Sufi shrines and religious scholarship, and the local Umrah travel trade is well practised at handling both individual and group bookings for this part of Punjab. Summers here are extremely hot and dry, which is worth factoring into travel timing and packing given the long journey ahead. The Pakistani rupee is standard for local spending. As with the rest of the country, verify that any operator is registered under Pakistan's official Hajj and Umrah scheme, and ask specifically whether your flight is a direct seasonal charter or a connecting itinerary.
Umrah visa for Pakistanis
Pakistan is not on Saudi Arabia's eVisa list, so Pakistanis normally cannot self-apply online for Umrah. The route is a licensed Umrah company, or an external agent contracted through Nusuk Masar, which books the visa with an approved hotel and transport package as one file, not a visa alone. It must be used within 30 days of issue, so confirm dates with the operator first. Many Pakistanis abroad in the Gulf instead perform Hajj and Umrah through their country of residence rather than Pakistan. Holders of a valid, used US, UK or Schengen visa, or GCC residents, may instead qualify for the eVisa or visa-on-arrival route, so ask the operator to check. For the 1448 AH Umrah season (31 May 2026 to 7 Apr 2027), start several weeks ahead, since checks move faster the earlier you begin.

When to go
Ramadan carries the greatest reward and the greatest crowds and prices; the weeks after Hajj (late Dhul Hijjah into Muharram) and the winter months (November to February) are cooler and quieter. The 1448 AH season runs from 31 May 2026 to 7 April 2027 for arrivals and departures. See the best time to perform Umrah.
