Flying from Kuwait City

Kuwait City is one of the most convenient Umrah departure points in the region given its proximity to Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait International Airport runs frequent nonstop flights to both Jeddah and Madinah on Kuwait Airways, Saudia, and budget carrier Jazeera Airways, with the short flight time making same-day or weekend Umrah trips genuinely feasible for many residents. Kuwait's Umrah travel trade is large and well organised, and many pilgrims here travel multiple times a year given how accessible the journey is. The Kuwaiti dinar is used locally and is among the highest-valued currencies in the world, worth keeping in mind when comparing package prices quoted in other currencies. Kuwait's climate is extremely hot and dry in summer, similar in character to Saudi Arabia's, so the climate adjustment is minimal. Given the short flight and frequent travel, many residents book flights and hotels independently rather than through a full package. Book ahead during Ramadan, when demand rises sharply.

Umrah visa for Kuwaitis

As GCC nationals, Kuwaitis do not need a Saudi visa at all for Umrah; a valid national passport or ID is enough to cross the border, the same citizen arrangement in place for years. Hotel and transport bookings inside Nusuk are compulsory for most pilgrims but not Kuwaitis, though using Nusuk to secure Mataf and Rawdah time-slot permits is still strongly advised, since those crowd-management slots increasingly apply to everyone. For the 1448 AH Umrah season (31 May 2026 to 7 Apr 2027), Kuwaitis can largely travel on their own schedule, though booking a hotel near the Haram early stays wise, since rooms sell out fast in peak weeks.

When to go

Ramadan carries the greatest reward and the greatest crowds and prices; the weeks after Hajj (late Dhul Hijjah into Muharram) and the winter months (November to February) are cooler and quieter. The 1448 AH season runs from 31 May 2026 to 7 April 2027 for arrivals and departures. See the best time to perform Umrah.
