If you get separated from your group
- Stay where you are for ten minutes; groups usually retrace their steps.
- Find the nearest numbered gate sign or a Haram staff member (they wear uniforms and carry radios) and show them your hotel card.
- Call your group leader; if no signal, go to the meeting point you agreed on before entering.
- Carry your hotel card and a photo of your passport at all times.
Basics that trip people up
- Prayer rows form early; arrive 45-60 minutes before Fajr, Maghrib and Isha in busy seasons.
- Zamzam is free from the dispensers; cold and room-temperature taps are marked.
- Shoes go in a bag you carry; do not leave them at entrances.
- Umrah, Rawdah and Hajj permits are issued only in the Nusuk app; screenshots are checked.
- Heat: drink before you are thirsty and use the shaded, air-cooled mataf levels when open.
Your embassy
Most embassies are in Riyadh with consulates in Jeddah. Save your consulate's emergency line before you travel from your government's travel-advice page; do not rely on numbers printed by third parties.
